Small business websites

Small-business website design and choosing the right package

Most small businesses do not need a big website. They need one that loads fast on a phone, says plainly what they do, and makes calling easy. The question is not how many pages you can get for the money — it is how much of the work your website has to do.

Start with what the site has to do

Before picking a package, answer one question: when somebody lands on your site, what do you want to happen? For most trades and service businesses the answer is a phone call. For a shop or studio it might be directions and hours. For a consultant it is often a form and a sense of who you are.

That answer decides the package. A business whose website only has to confirm "these people are real, here is the number" is well served by one page. A business competing on search for several services in several towns needs more pages, because pages are what search engines have to rank.

Choosing between the three

Starter Site

$300

One professionally designed page. Your services, your photos, a click-to-call button, and a contact form. Right when your business is small, local, and mostly found by word of mouth.

Working Site

$1,500

Up to five pages with copywriting from an intake call, a photo gallery, on-page SEO, and analytics. Right when you want to be found by people who have never heard of you.

Signature Site

$4,500

Up to twelve pages with original creative direction, on-site photo and video direction, and booking or payment links. Right when the website carries the first impression on a big sale.

If you are not sure, start smaller

A Starter Site can be expanded into a Working Site or Signature Site later without starting over, and if you upgrade within 90 days the $300 comes off the larger build. That makes the small option a genuine starting point rather than a dead end.

What every build includes

What is not in every build: full copywriting, photo galleries, Google Business Profile work, multi-page SEO and analytics belong to the Working Site and Signature Site. The Starter Site is built from the material you supply, cleaned up and presented properly.

Ownership, plainly

The website files are yours and the domain is registered in your name. Hosting works differently: nobody owns hosting, it is a service you pay a host for, so the account goes in your name and stays under your control. Domain renewal usually runs $15–$25 a year and hosting for a site this size is typically free to about $20 a month depending on traffic. The pricing page covers the ongoing costs in detail.

Where I work

I am in New Bern and I take work anywhere. Being local matters more than people expect for a first build — sitting across a table beats a video call when you are trying to explain what your business actually does. If you are in New Bern, River Bend, Trent Woods, Bridgeton, or anywhere else in Craven County, we can do the intake in person. Current clients run from eastern North Carolina to suburban Philadelphia.

Not sure which one fits?

Tell me what your business does and what you want the site to accomplish. I will tell you which package fits and say so if the smaller one is enough.
